HOMESCHOOL BASIC DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY FOR AGES 8-18
This is a 5-week course designed for homeschool students aged 8-18. Class meets one day a week at our studio. This workshop is designed for the young photographer to learn the basic tools of photography, as well as, take a look at the history of photography. Each student will receive their own photographer's badge.

This class is designed for photography beginners and photo enthusiasts looking to learn the basics of digital photography - both the art and the science of it. During this fast paced 4 hour workshop our photographer will share with you a comprehensive overview of her 7 step method for creating amazing images.
Step One: Basic Function of Today’s Modern Digital Camera! You’ll learn and finally understand your camera! Whether you have a point & shoot, pro-sumer model, or a top of the line professional DSLR, Melissa will make sure you get the most of your camera!
Step Two: The Technical Stuff! You’ll learn and understand what all those buttons and settings do! But more importantly, you’ll actually learn how to best use them!
Step Three: Image Composition! Here’s is where you will learn about the “artsy” stuff and how to give your images more impact.
Step Four: Lighting Techniques! Learn how to light like a pro in all types of lighting situations.
Step Five: Making Your Subjects Look Their Best! Melissa will share with you many of these secrets for making her subjects look their best!
Step Six: It’s the Little Things! When it comes to bettering your photography, it’s all about refining the little things and looking for details. Melissa will show you how to turn what would normally be a snapshot into a work of art!
Step Seven: Enjoying Your Photographs After You’ve Created Them! You’ve created them…now what do you do with them??? Melissa will demonstrate the latest ways to enjoy your images as fine art prints, albums, slideshows, and more!

Basic Level / Beginners Workshops
Intro to Lightroom and Photoshop
You've got all these beautiful photos you've taken but they need something a little extra. Not sure what to do? This course is the perfect place to start!
In this 2 hour course, our photographer will walk you through the basics of Lightroom and Photoshop including how the two programs work together. Upon completion of the course, you will understand how to import images into Lightroom, basic editing, how Lightroom and Photoshop work together, and much more.
Cameras are not needed; however, students are encourage to bring a small thumb drive containing a couple of images to work with in the class. Raw images are preferred. Class images will be provided for group editing.

Workshop Series for Kids
HOMESCHOOL BASIC DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY FOR AGES 8-18
This is a 5-week course designed for homeschool students aged 8-18. This workshop is designed for the young photographer to learn the basic tools of photography, as well as, take a look at the history of photography.
This is a multi-lesson workshop designed specifically for kids aged 8-12. Class meets one day a week for 45-minutes at our studio in Peoria. Students will need to commit to attending all 5 lessons.
Topics include: History of Photography, Photographer's Toolkit, Exposure (ISO, Shutter Speed, Aperture), White Balance, Basic Settings, Composition (Subject/Focal Point, Rule of Thirds, Framing, Perspective, Leading Lines, Angles), Basic Lighting (Natural Lighting, Artificial Lighting, Flash), Basic Posing, Careers in Photography.
Our homeschool workshop is held once per quarter throughout the year. Each student will receive a Photographer's Badge and a Certificate of Completion upon graduation from the curriculum.
